Was Mickey Mouse Inspired By The Bible?

You may be surprised to hear but it is possible that Mickey Mouse may have been inspired by the Bible.  When Mickey was first created there were some other anthropomorphic cartoon characters but they usually still looked mostly like the animals they portrayed and often acted like animals. Mickey Mouse was the first cartoon animal to talk. His ability to talk made him unique at first. This is where we can see the best correlation to Mickey Mouse and a Bible story. You might think that if Mickey was the first talking cartoon animal he might have been the first talking animal. This is not the case. The Biblical book of Numbers talks about Balaam and his talking Donkey. This is an obscure story for most modern readers. Disney was not a modern reader though. He may very well have heard the story of Balaam as a child. There are even pseudographic writings of the apostles baptizing animals and them walking on 2 legs and preaching about God. Disneyland Paris From Sketch To Reality Book Review

Today we are reviewing the books Disneyland Paris From Sketch To Reality by Alain Littaye and Didier Ghez. The book is among my favorite Disney books.  It is a hard back coffee table sized book. It is full of beautiful color photo including many two page spreads. The photos include concept art, construction work, behind the scenes, poster art, and pictures of the park as it is now. Many of the pictures you won't find anywhere else. If it was just a nice phonebook it would be a great book, but it goes beyond being a pretty book. The book also has lots of information about the creating the park from Imagineers who were there. The books has some great stories even die hard Disney fans are unlikely to have heard. The concept of the book is great as is the execution. It would be nice if Disney could make a book like this for every new project. A book on building all the parks, Star Wars Land, etc. For a book like this I would think $50 is a fair price usually. Some of...

Knott's Berry Farm The So Cal Secret

Everyone in the world knows Disneyland. Most people in the US know Universal's. Coaster enthusiast know Six Flags Magic Mountain. Knott's Berry Farm is less well known than these other parks. That is why I like to think of it as the So Cal secret. Many of you know Disneyland claims to be the first theme park but Knott's claims to be America's first theme park. Knott's certainly did open before Disneyland. The only real question is if was an amusement park or a theme park then. It certainly had a wild west theme but is a single theme enough to qualify as a theme park. Actually I think it does since there are other parks that have one theme and call themselves theme parks. I think it would be better to say Disneyland is the first mute-themed theme park. Growing up in LA what I liked about Knott's was that it was in between Disneyland and Six Flags.
