Disneyland Paris From Sketch To Reality Book Review

Image
Today we are reviewing the books Disneyland Paris From Sketch To Reality by Alain Littaye and Didier Ghez. The book is among my favorite Disney books.  It is a hard back coffee table sized book. It is full of beautiful color photo including many two page spreads. The photos include concept art, construction work, behind the scenes, poster art, and pictures of the park as it is now. Many of the pictures you won't find anywhere else. If it was just a nice phonebook it would be a great book, but it goes beyond being a pretty book. The book also has lots of information about the creating the park from Imagineers who were there. The books has some great stories even die hard Disney fans are unlikely to have heard. The concept of the book is great as is the execution. It would be nice if Disney could make a book like this for every new project. A book on building all the parks, Star Wars Land, etc. For a book like this I would think $50 is a fair price usually. Some of thes

The Video Game Contest That Never Ended

Image
Swordquest was a series of video games that was planned to be a total of 4 games. Only 3 of the games were ever released. The games were part of a bigger real world game that would lead to $150,000 in prizes awarded. The games each had a comic book that would explain the plot of each game. The comics were made by DC. Each game would have 4 or 5 clues that could be found that would direct the player to a page and panel in the comic. Players would then have to find a clue in the comic. Once all clues were found players sent the full sentence made by the clues to Atari. If they cdid this they could enter a contest to earn prizes and a chance to go onto the final contest. In the contest for each game players would play special versions of the game. The player who found the most clues in the contest game in ninety minutes would win the contest and a item valued around $25,000. Contest winners would be able to go to the final contest for a chance to win a sword valued at $50,000.

The Art Of Disneyland and The Art Of Walt Disney World Resort Book Review

Image
Today we I am reviewing 2 books at once. The first one is The Art Of Disneyland by Bruce Gordon and Jeff Kurtti Disneyland is my home park so you might think that this would be my favorite of the 2 books. It isn't though. The reason I do not like this book as much is because it is divided into park sections which each section being given about equal space. The problem is some sections of the park like Main Street should not get as much space. I don't think there are many fans of the Omnibus. Besides the overly large section for Main Street the book is great. It is one of my favorite Disney books of all time. It has amazing concept art. Some of the art Disney fans will be familiar with and can be found online. Some of the art though I have never seen anywhere else. The Art Of Walt Disney World Resort which is also by Bruce Gordon and Jeff Kurtti is the book I prefer. They are roughly the same number of pages. In this book though they go by theme. Themes may be adventur

China Star Wars Comics

Image
China Star Wars Comics You might think you have a complete Star Wars collection buy your wont until you have all the China Star Wars Comics. These comics were made from the 70s all the way to the present time. The older comics are what are known as Manhua. Manhua are small comics usually featuring one image a page with some explanation below. These were typically in black and white. When looking at these early Manhua we see that some closely follow the movie storylines. Although it soon becomes clear that the illustrators never had seen the movie. It is like someone told them what was in the movie and they drew based on the description. For instance you can see a city that is obviously Cloud City but it does not look like the real one. Sometimes it seems they may have had some images to go off of. Other times there is no consistency even in the same comic. The quality of the art varies. Some offer stories that are unique from the movies but probably j

Disney Dragon News:

Disney Dragon News: A new book has been released by local Passamaquoddy historian about strange story from the cities past. The original story was discovered in the Passamaquoddy Gazette from 1901. It is about a Dr Terminus a patent medicine salesman who traveled through the area. Dr Terminus claimed to have studied at the Sorbonne and earned his doctorate from the Dr. School’s School of Podiatry but neither school has records of a Dr. Terminus. The trouble began when he meet up with the Gogan family. He offered to help them capture a dragon. He was soon ran out of town. It is believed he moved to San Francisco with his business partner Hoagy. The story gets stranger from there. The Gogans were jailed and put on trial for child slavery and hunting without a license. The defence tried to portray the young Pete as mentally unstable. The entire town was brought into to testify for the prosecution. Everyone announced that they saw the Gogans showing off a paper and literally singing

Star Wars News: Long time companions R2-D2 and C-3PO were married on the planet Ossus in the remote outer rim territory. Ossus is believed by some scholars to be the home of the first Jedi temple. The ceremony was performed by Jedi Master Luke Skywalker in the remains of the old Jedi temple. The service was a Jedi service. C-3PO is a Creatorist but R2 has been involved in the Jedi religion for a long time. R2 was first exposed to the religion during the battle of Naboo. He spent time at the Jedi temple on Coruscant where he befriended Skippy the Jedi Droid. He also spent some time on Dagobah with the Jedi Master Yoda who he had previously known while on Coruscant. R2 have never been baptized into the religion though. C-3PO explained, “it would literally fry his circuits.” C-3PO wore a dress designed by John Mollo. C-3PO was walked down the aisle by Force Ghost Anakin Skywalker. Those in attendance included your typical A-listers like Han, Leia, Boba Fett, Rom
